This semester in English 1102 was a great year. I have learned a lot of writing styles that will help me write great papers in the future. When I signed up for the class, I thought it was going to harder than my first semester of English 1101. I took the same professor because I felt she did a great job during English 1101. I still believe she is a great professor. I have decided this class was not hard. There were more assignments that involved more writing than first semester. I should have a good grade because I followed the necessary steps for good papers. I believe my grade should be an A in the class because throughout this semester I have given 100 percent to my work, from wikis to my essays.
When I first entered the class, I had to write an essay on my web presence. I think I did great on this essay because it focused on something about me. I can easily talk about my feelings. I had to write on the steps I take to make a good web presence. It was interesting because most people don’t actually think about what is being put on the internet. I was told about employers looking on FaceBook and Twitter to see what is posted. I have recently been employed, and my supervisor has told me the company will terminate if there is anything inappropriate on the web. Writing this essay help me better my web presence. I liked it the most because it was about me.
I also like Wikispaces. I liked how I signed up for a certain area I wanted to write about. This gave me an advantage because I had the chance to write about something I was truly interested in. Writing about something I am interested in, helps me write better papers and go deep into details. When I was told I had to do fifteen wiki posts to the certain area I choose, I was dreading the thought of it. I thought it was going to take the most time and was going to be hard. After I was use to posting, it became easier. The wikis also help the process of putting my research paper together. The information was right in front of me in Wikispaces. I should have an exceptional overall grade because the information was researched for a long time. I also wrote on the topic in two other papers that I had exceptional grades on.
My expectations of this class was since it was hybrid, I wasn’t going to do as much work. I was wrong. With all the writing I had to do, I can’t tell we only met once a week. There was a lot of technology use also. The portfolio is an example because our work had to be organized together and put on a website rather than printing out and taking them to our professor. I think the portfolio is great because it saves trees, and it gives me a chance to pick my best work and present it to everyone. Revising and ghost grades are also some things I liked about this course. I had the chance to submit my papers and get ghost grades which helped me go back and revise my paper to get a better grade. I think this is the best way to get good papers, and I should have an exceptional grade because I took the opportunity given to me and revised my papers. In my portfolio, my papers are not revised because I believed my grades for them were good. Even though I didn’t not revise my papers does not mean I did not put effort in having a great portfolio.
This semester was good overall. I think I put my best work forward. I had an interruption at the end of the semester with starting a new job, but I still put effort in my writings. This class has helped me a lot. I know how to research my topics before I start writing. I recommend this class to anyone wanting to improve their writing skills because I believe I have improved mine thanks to my professor. I put my best foot forward, so I should have an exceptional grade in English 1102.
